I think, beyond all doubt, this is NOT an oxymoron. A militia is a coalition of citizens united for a common goal - generally the preservation of freedom. There are absolutely no qualms with typifying Muslim militants as "militias" because their ethos has long been catagorized as one of violence.

The "christian" militia is more or less a group of people who are working towards a peaceful preservation of their faith in god, and freedom, with violence a distant, distasteful final option.
Just because a man is armed, dosen't make him violent, just as a man who is unarmed, is not always peaceful.
